French is spoken by 300 Million people in the world (at least..) and is ranked the 5th within the most spoken languages. If I want to learn a new language, what could be more logical then opting for one of the top ranked languages. Whether it be to socialize or for business purposes, French is definitely a good choice to be able to communicate with a large range of people.
French is also THE language you should learn if you enjoy travelling (assuming that you’re already well versed in English…). France is a top tourist destination with more than 87 million per year (that was before covid obviously…). You also have no less than 21 countries in Africa where French is the official language. If you are not that much of a sun lover, you can also choose Belgium or Quebec for your French holidays and save on the sun cream budget as well…
If you aim to learn even more languages and become a polyglot, you should definitely learn French first. It will be a strong base to study other Romance languages like Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and more. A significant amount of English vocabulary is also derived from French.
